Trekking at Bukit Gasing

Finally I went trekking at the Hutan Pendidikan Bukit Gasing which I have always heard about but never knew its whereabout. Thanks very much to Aishiteru for organising the trekking trip yesterday morning. 5 of us went, Aishi and 2 of her friends, Shardy and me.

I enjoyed the trek very much. I love the smell and sound as I was walking through it. It was very warm, but the humidity there was kinda refreshing. I am impressed by just knowing that there is a nice little jungle right smack in hustle bustle of Klang Valley.

There is a hanging bridge where some parts were patched with some ropes that don't seem safe enough, a high watch tower with lotsa grafittis created with liquid papers - mostly "who and who are here" or "He loves she" stuff, and a small river which we did not explore that day.

People are very friendly and you will be greeted with many chirpy "Good mornings" as you walk pass other trekkers/joggers/brisk walkers/dog walkers. For those who are prone to mozzies bites, protect yourselves. Huge mozzies there, which is normal in any Malaysian jungles.

I was so tired especially walking uphill. My knees! Aishi and her friends are very fit. And I totally hats off to the elderly uncles and aunties that didn't seem tired at all. I guess it is just one of their daily routines walking through the trails.

I think Bukit Gasing trek is extremely good to build stamina and endurance, and most importantly it is free. The trek only take around 1 hour, just perfect for a good walking workout. And if you are into nature photography, here is the place for you.

After burning those calories, all of us went to Raju for breakfast to reward ourselves and generous Aishiteru treated us to that wonderful roti canais. Thank you to her once again!

If you are interested, here is the direction to get there...

Firstly you need to get to Gasing area in PJ. You can get there from Federal Highway. If you come from KL, exit to left road right after KWSP. You will pass Satellite Chicken Rice restaurant on your right. Drive ahead and you will see a Chinese Temple on your left and immediately a junction to the left. Turn left. Drive ahead for about 200/300 meter and you will see a playground. Park your car along the road. Here you can see a signboard that says : Tmn Pendidikan Bukit Gasing.

Part of the trail at Taman Pendidikan Bukit Gasing has collapsed in a big way due to a landslide sometime last week. The trail has been cut off. A bungalow's compound is under threat. Although unrelated to the proposed development on the KL side, this is natural evidence of how fragile Bukit Gasing is. Please join us to SAVE BUKIT GASING.
